MeetingWave.com - The How for Who What Where When and Why.

http://www.meetingwave.com/

MeetingWave's Fundamental Value: MeetingWave is an online tool for networking off-line for business, professional or social reasons. MeetingWave allows its users to set up meetings that are open to people they have never met.  Meeting organizers can specify the types of people they want to attend their meetings, while still maintaining a high degree of control over who actually attends.

How MeetingWave Works:  A user of MeetingWave can arrange offline meetings with new people by following the site's simple Invite process:

  1. An organizer looking to meet people can post a "Public Invite" describing the purpose of the proposed meeting and/or the types of people the organizer would like to meet.
  2. MeetingWave would then notify the organizer by email each time someone accepts the organizer's Public Invite.
  3. The organizer must then approve or decline each acceptance by a user -- and can do so for any reason.  After the organizer "approves" or "declines" an acceptance, MeetingWave notifies the user who accepted whether he or she may attend the organizer's meeting. Only "approved" guests may attend.  The meeting organizer ultimately controls whether the meeting will happen and who may attend.

Other Features of MeetingWave:  Meeting organizers can choose to have their meeting location disclosed only to "approved" attendees. MeetingWave's messaging system allows meeting organizers to communicate -- directly and privately -- with those who have indicated an interest in attending their meetings.  MeetingWave also allows organizers to set up meetings that recur on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.  Yet another distinctive feature of our site is the "Archive" functionality which allows meeting organizers to save and review Invites they have posted in the past to keep a record of where meetings occurred and who attended them.

Users can post Invites for coffee, lunch, dinner, drinks, or any other purpose.  Or, a user can search and browse through Invites posted by others and accept any of interest.

Issues:

  • We need people to not only come to the site, but some users to post good interesting invites for networking meetings, others to accept those invites (and get approved by the inviter) and all to show up to the meeting.  And we need that in each location.  Possible?  What's the best strategy for success?
  • What's holding people back from using the site now?
  • Should we focus on business networking or social networking?
